our little peanut
oh my Reese.
Recently, she has blossomed into a little person. She is always very aware of what is going on around her, and has the greatest desire to do the right thing. She loves pink, all things that sparkle, and will spend hours drawing, painting and focusing on creating. Often we feel for Tanner, as Reese has become the mini-mom of the house. She corrects, she bosses - and as long as those around her follow her lead - she is a happy camper.
Toddler-time thus far has not been too bad with Reese. Our little peanut - bless her - as long as you do not dictate what she can wear...( or how many times she can change her clothes in a day) she is typically a happy camper. She can be heard frequently lamenting over what is the most 'beautiful' option. She focuses, she is smart, kind and loving towards everyone around her.
She is getting so big.
I love you peanut.

an affair to remember
Tanner & Maeva- seriously they are like two peas in a pod. They act so similarly - they are the sweetest souls, and the most stubborn of friends. They will be the first to play rough and tumble games, while Reese is off the side playing house with her dolls.
They fight, then they make up. And according to Maeva- Tanner's her favorite. We are already drawing up agreements for their future... :)

This past weekend we met up at UCSC for their Harvest Fair. It was a a super HOT day, but they everyone had a great time. Exploring the garden, taking a hay ride, and eating a picnic lunch.

To one of our favorite little people - we love you Ms. M and for always being up for playing with our duo.

The crew off on the hay ride - we timed it right- by the time we were done the line was CRAZY long.

County Fair
Last week the fair came to town. I really had not thought much about taking the kids, until one day after pre-school they were talking about it. The COUNTY FAIR (said with much dramatic flair and arm gestures) is coming to town! This is where the farmers come and bring animals for us to look at. (Their words not mine)
So we spent an afternoon at the fair. The kids had so much fun - we rode ponies, visited with the animals, saw a sea lion show, and got to get on some rides. A good time was had by all!
When we first came up to the horses - neither were sure about it. But Reese decided she wanted to ride a pony, and tanner wanted to ride a horse. Luckily, they were both satisfied with their choices. :)

Off to the rides! They each got to pick two rides- and they wanted to ride all-by-myself (it's a theme these days).

Then it was off to the family fun house- how do I know my kids are growing up - because they were finally officially 36" tall, and were able to go on this ride. I am forever grateful to the man running this ride who let my kids go on multiple times- it was a toddler paradise. Slides, bridges, and rope ladders...oh my!

then we were done.

walk in the woods
Some days it almost feels like we are in a Bill Bryson novel. Seriously. These days the kids can not seem to leave the house without all sorts of toys, clothing, potties -etc. May next time I should just pack a canned ham too.
Either way- last week we went and took a hike up in Fall Creek up in San Lorenzo Valley. It was actually really great. It was the first time that Tanner & Reese were able to walk most of it on their own. They enjoyed exploring, running along with Jackson, climbing trees, singing and such. It was a beautiful day- one that you can just sigh and enjoy the moment*.
Walking off together.

Jackson - their best friend. Or so Tanner said today.

Seriously- they are getting so big! All of a sudden - when did we loose our babies?~?

Exploring - Mommy Lissa helped to build their 'fort' in a downed redwood.

* - trying to appreciate these moments are currently they are few and far between . Tanner is in a tough phase right now. Seriously. There are moments I am not sure if we are all going to survive. Unfortunately, they say this is what the new '3' is about- power struggles. If that is the case- we are in for one doozy of a year!

Back to School
So we are all officially back into our school routine - Melissa is back at work, we have a new care-giver on some days - and finally yesterday- back to pre-school!
The kids were so excited to go and see their friends. While I tried to talk them into some cute first-day of school outfits - they would have none of it. I gave up - and let them both dress themselves.

We got new backpacks and lunch boxes for school this year- they are IN LOVE with their backpacks!
